I've had more arguments than conversations.
I've had new friendships live and old friendships die.
I've been wrong, I've been right.
I will change.
I have changed.
"Too many people are taking photos of the protests."
I look back at protests of the past and wonder,
are there too many images of these moments,
or is it just hard for you to look at it.
I felt a responsibility then, as I do now, to make and share these images. To document these experiences for you to smell, hear, see, and feel.
To bring back to these moments. To this period of our history, that profoundly affected so many and that continues to do so.
In the hope that in this recognition of events past, there can be hope for a future change.

Running down the highway, traffic blocked by the crowds of protestors, I looked up to see helicopters circling, monitoring for those sitting miles away, and I was given clarity to the importance of proximity.
The closer I can get, perhaps, the closer we can come.

Looking back I question the line between creating art in these moments,
but it's all I can do to try and understand
to participate
to assist.
